**** Since we expect people from the preceding 2-day CSM course, content will in part be driven by questions and issues that arose in that course. This course is to enable you to take the ideas of Scrum and get more practical benefit from them. To put them into action more effectively. As always happens, there will be some misunderstanding of what Scrum is. And of its values and principles. And even what the practices are. These will also be addressed, as needed. We will form teams and address real life situations. In the simple case, the Team includes all the pigs (PO, SM and implementors). And we help this team get started or progress to the next level. We expect each small team (of about 5-7) to typically address one real life situation (eg, the real situation for a real team). In some situations, some "team members" will need to act as Scrum consultants to the "product owner" representing that real life situation. A Team could definitely choose to focus on doing Scrum outside software development. If we have sufficient interest, a group could practice being a managerial or transition scrum.team.
We could deal with ANY these issues:
* Getting a project or product
* Working with sponsor/management
* Getting a team
* Dealing with resistance to change
* Dealing with lack of knowledge about
Scrum
* Forming the team
* Communicating "We're going Agile"
* Team communication setup (shared
space, collaboration tools, obstacles
to listening, pairing vs soloing)
* Reminding people of the benefits of
Agile
* Getting serious about impediment removal * Using velocity well * Doing infrastructure, architecture & design
* Product Vision
* Backlog creation
* BV Identification
* Definition of Done
* Story Pointing
* Completing Release Planning
* Doing Sprint Planning
* Doing the Sprint Review * Doing more effective Retrospectives * How do we feel the music?
We will practice doing most of these.
For others, we will devise an action
approach, and discuss principles and
pitfalls and best practices.
Through a combination of immersive team-based learning, exercises, and Q&A, we will help you go to the next level in learning how to:
Values, principles and practices from
Scrum, XP, Lean Software Development and
other places will be discussed. The whole team will have lots of practice addressing issues, since you will be called upon to be "consultants" to others' issues. In general, we will be doing "real work", but occasionally slides will be used as reminders or to reinforce key ideas Additional Information : Special Because we will be at Rally offices, you will get an opportunity to watch them do Scrum. This will likely include watching them do a Daily Scrum and other interactions. Who Should Attend You will leave with some new practical knowledge
about how
and why Scrum works. Through practical,
hands-on exercises and small-group
discussion you will be prepared to plan
your next sprint immediately after this
class. And expect notably higher velocity
if you have the right people in the course. There is a 10% discount for 3 or more from the same firm (or group) and 15% for 5 or more from the same firm or group. PMPs: You might receive 8 Professional
